We are losing the war against cancer.
Half a century ago, the story goes, a person was far more likely to die from heart disease. Now cancer is on the verge of overtaking it as the No. 1 cause of death.

Half a century ago, motives for death were not known neither inquired.
‘motives for death’? What exactly do you mean by this, Antonio? I mean how are ‘motives’ related to the article I’m citing here?
Not so many years ago, we couldn’t say if anybody was dead by cancer.
They simply died and that was all.
We didn’t know the motives of their deaths.
So we cannot say if today there are more deaths by cancer than before.
This would mean that in fact we are not losing the battle.
Each year we are more prepared to fight.
Unfortunately this goes very slooooowly.
