That Hollywood Voice!

“In a World. One Man. About Five Billion Cigarettes” The_Archetypal_Hollywood_Voice_Talents used to be amusing. Ridiculous. For a while. They’ve long become an intrinsic part of Hollywood trailers; action, the dumb jokes, the authoritative narration. Last week I was in London and some friends and I were planning on going to see The Pan’s Labyrinth an […]

The Rotten MBPs

I’m in London for a few days and I couldn’t avoid paying a visit to the Regent Street Apple Store. I’ve been in the market for a laptop for some time now and while my plan since late last year has been to get a Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro (C2D MBP), as soon as […]

Inconsolata

The D40, being the latest (and, literally, smallest) low-end DSLR by Nikon, is a weird camera. At $599, its small size and decent feature set, the D40 seems to be a good compromise for young photographers or those entering the DSLR world from the low and mid end of digital compacts. Yet its resolution is relatively low, even compared to mid-range compacts, even though it sports some features not even found on the larger D50. I'm curious to see how it fares on the market.

The SpamMeisters!

It’s now been close to four months since I modified the Akismet plugin to show me the country flag and name for each Spam message received on this blog on the administration pages (using my improved ip2nation database). While it’s been (and was expected to be) a somewhat useless and geeky exercise, it proved that […]
