O EU Observer γράφει για το περιστατικό που δημιουργήθηκε στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο όταν σε αντιπροσωπεία Σιχς, μετά από πρόσκληση του Κοινοβουλίου, δεν επετράπει η είσοδος καθώς τα μέλη της αρνήθηκαν να παραδώσουν τα στιλέττα τους Κιρπάν κατα την είσοδο τους στο κτήριο. Το Kιρπάν είναι το θρησκευτικό σύμβολο των Σίχς.
